Hair Transplant Replacement Surgery - Medical Hair Restoration

Hair Transplant Replacement Surgery - Medical Hair Restoration

Most everyone who experiences hair loss, longs for their hair to be as it was. People are sometimes willing to try just about anything to achieve this goal. There are treatments, cover-ups, and other options. If you have thinning hair you should discuss it with your doctor. This will hopefully weed out it being caused by something physical and determine which treatment or cover-up might best meet your needs.

Thinning Hair Possible Causes

There are many things that can cause hair thinning and which cause people to seek out methods of hair restoration. Physical and emotional stress may have an effect on hair loss. Illnesses and very high fevers can cause hair to thin out. Nervous habits that can result in hair loss include any one of the following: pulling on your hair, pulling hair out, or unduly rubbing your scalp. Medical conditions such as Thyroid problems may also play a part in thinning hair.

Medications may also trigger hair thinning. Medication that is used in chemotherapy and in radiation treatments cause hair to fall out. The good news is that once the medications are stopped you will see hair re-growth over time.

Hormonal changes such as the use of birth control, pregnancy, or child birth can affect hair loss. Levels of testosterone in men are also known to cause hair loss. Men who have low levels of testosterone do not have typical male pattern baldness.

A chemical called DHT- dihydrotestosterone is an enzyme and causes healthy follicles to shrink causing hairs to fall out. Testosterone and DHT are known as male hormones and when present in excess will cause hair to fall out. The presence of an enzyme called 5-alpha-reductase appears in high levels. It then becomes DHT. This destroys soft hairs till they fall out for good.

Tips to maintain a healthy sex life later in life:

Tips to maintain a healthy sex life later in life:
Communicate with your partner. Open discussion of sex has become much more common in the last 40 years, but many older adults come from a generation where sex remains a taboo subject. But openly talking about your needs, desires and concerns with your partner can make you closer and help you both enjoy sex and intimacy more.

Talk to your doctor. Talking about sexual issues with your doctor can help you maintain a healthy sex life as you get older. Your doctor can help you manage chronic conditions and medications that affect your sex life. Many older men have trouble maintaining an erection or reaching orgasm. Your doctor may be able to prescribe medications or other treatments for these problems.

Expand your definition of sex. Intercourse is only one way to have fulfilling sex. Touching, kissing and other intimate sexual contact may be just as rewarding for both you and your partner. Realize that as you age, it is normal for you and your partner to have different sexual abilities and needs. Be open to finding new ways to enjoy sexual contact and intimacy.

Change your routine. Simple changes can improve your sex life. Change the time of day when you have sex to a time when you have the most energy. Try the morning — when you're refreshed from a good night's sleep — rather than at the end of a long day. Because it might take longer for you or your partner to become aroused, take more time to set the stage for romance, such as a romantic dinner or an evening of dancing. Try a new sexual position or explore other new ways of connecting romantically and sexually.

Seek a partner if you're single. It is never too late for romance. It can be difficult starting a relationship after the loss of a spouse or being single for a long time — but socializing is well worth the effort for many single seniors. No one ever outgrows the need for emotional closeness and intimate love. If you start a relationship with a new partner, be sure to practice safe sex. Many older adults are unaware that they are still at risk of sexually transmitted diseases such as AIDS.

Stay healthy. Eating regular nutritious meals, staying active, not drinking too much alcohol, and not smoking or using illegal drugs are important for your overall health — and it can help your sexual performance. Follow your doctor's instructions in taking medications and managing any chronic health conditions.

Stay positive. The changes that come with aging — from health problems to changes in appearance and sexual performance — leave many men feeling less attractive or feeling they are less capable of enjoying or giving sexual pleasure. Discussing your feelings with your partner can help. Feeling angry, unhappy or depressed has a strong impact on your sex life. Professional counseling or other treatment can improve your sex life — and your well-being.

Sex may not be the same for you or your partner as it was when you were young. But by adapting to your changing body, sex and intimacy can continue to be a fulfilling and rewarding part of your life.

Massage parlours- threat to Ayurveda

Massage parlours- threat to Ayurveda
CHENNAI: Mushrooming of the so called Ayurvedic massage parlours and spas sans qualified therapists is posing a threat to the health of customers as well as the credibility of the Indian stream of medicine, say experts.

During the past few years, a lot of centres have sprung up offering ayurvedic massages and therapies as part of wellness treatments and they often "dilute" the treatment methods for making a quick buck, they say.

"Even though this shows the growing popularity of Ayurveda, the attempt to dilute the system for purely commercial interests will do great harm to this stream of medicine," said Dr U Indulal, Deputy Director, Arya Vaidya Pharmacy, Coimbatore.

Echoing his view, Dr C Madhusoodanan, Chief of the Ayurveda wing at Kumaran Hospital, Chennai, said many of the centres do not even have doctors, proper facilities, medicinal oils or qualified therapists.

There were even reports about raids being carried out at some of the centres for immoral activities, said Indulal.

"This would even paint a wrong picture about this ancient system of medicine not only among the people of the country but also the foreigners who show interest in Ayurveda."

Unlike other streams of treatment like Allopathy and Homeopathy, Ayurveda has treatments that help rejuvenation and wellness. This trait makes it vulnerable to be excessively commercialised, he said.

"To do an oil massage as per the Ayurvedic texts, we need seven therapists and a systematic method has to be adopted as per the advice of the doctor. The choice of oil, massage, preparations etc are prescribed after evaluating the condition of the patient."

Use ayurveda to your benefit

Use ayurveda to your benefit

Ayurveda lays more emphasis on prevention than cure. A person falls prey to various kinds of diseases if he over indulges in, underutilises or stops exercising his senses and their desires while ignoring the body constitution. Excessive nourishment also blocks the channels through which prana flows and results in an imbalance causing diseases. In either case, there is no replenishment to dhatus and the body's ability to fight infections and other harmful external influences decreases and disease manifests.

Rasa dhatu is the most important of body fluids and provides nourishment to every part of the body by circulating through various channels to provide essential nutrients required for the healthy functioning of all systems and organs. It also nourishes the remaining six dhatus in the body.

Herbs or preparations that are in the Rasayana category of various ayurvedic preparations nourish Rasa dhatu . Shatavri (asparagus racemosus) is an excellent tonic especially for women. As a general rule remember to discard any powdered herb or churan after six months as it loses efficacy. One tsp shatavari , 1 dry date, 1/2 tsp dry ginger, and 1-cup milk cooked over a low flame. When it cools down add 1 tsp honey to it.

Remember honey should never be heated as it produces toxins when heated. (People with excess pitta may reduce the quantity of ginger.) This preparation helps in nourishing the female reproductive organs. For optimal utilisation and absorption of any food or ayurvedic preparation, the digestive organ should be in a healthy condition.

To strengthen the mucous membrane of the stomach, take a mixture of 1 tsp licorice ( mulhathi ), 1 tbsp honey and a few leaves of tulsi ground into a paste and have with warm water. (Licorice is not recommended for people with heart ailments and high blood pressure). Before taking any ayurvedic treatment get yourself evaluated by an expert.

Distilled ayurveda

Distilled ayurveda
If there was one thing, or principle of Ayurveda that you think one should emphasise above all else, what would it be?

One thing everyone can do for their health is to improve digestion. If your digestive fire is working properly, then you will extract the maximum nourishment from what you eat without any toxic residual called ama.

Health in Ayurveda means there is a free flow of intelligence throughout the mind/body system. This intelligence flows through the gross channels of the body called shrotas, and through the subtle channels ofthe non-physical body called nadis.

'Ayurvedic' burqas a rage in Saudi Arabia

'Ayurvedic' burqas a rage in Saudi Arabia
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Age-old Hindu wisdom is now dressing up women in Islamic Saudi Arabia. Burqas made the Ayurvedic way are the latest export from Balaramapuram, a tiny village on the city outskirts made famous by its handloom weavers whose struggle for survival has led to rediscovery of the ancient art of weaving organic clothes.

"In Ayurveda, these fabrics are called Ayurvastra . Only natural cotton and colouring is used so that they are free of toxic irritants. These are also treated with medicinal herbs as prescribed by Ayurvedic texts to improve the healing value," says Rajan, whose family has been in the trade for 600 years.

"In the past few months, we exported about 4,000 burqas to Saudi Arabia," he says. "But the demand for Ayurvastra doesn't stop there. Last year, our Handloom Weavers Co-operative Society exported clothes worth Rs 2 crore to the US, UK, France, Mexico, South Africa and Japan."

Does Ayurvastra really heal? Clinical trials at the Government Ayurveda College Hospital here showed that the fabric was quite effective, especially in cases of skin ailments and arthritis. As part of the test, patients were constantly exposed to Ayurvedic herbs through Ayurvastra for 30 days.

Even the curtains in the room, linen and mattresses, says Rajan, were made as prescribed in the ancient Indian treatise, Charaka Samhita .
