what is liposuction
What is Liposuction ?
Liposuction is a plastic surgery used for cosmetic
purposes. Lipo – means fat. The prefix “Lipo” is usually
used to indicate
fat. Removing body fat deposits through
suction is “Liposuction”. This surgery is adopted to
improve shape of an
over weighted person’s body. Excess
fat deposits, which spoil the body shape, are removed
through this modern method. Lipoplasty and suction
lipectomy are other names given to this surgery.
The excess body fat is removed through suction. A large syringe or a
vacuum suction device is inserted into fat deposits through an
incision to perform this cosmetic surgery. This surgery may involve
more than one session, depending upon the amount of fat to be
removed through suction. These sessions are planned by plastic
surgeons after examining and discussing with the patient. Like any
other surgery liposuction is performed under general, regional or
local anesthesia depending on the surgical procedure involved.
Usually excess fat gets deposited in Abdomen, Thighs, Flanks (Love
handles), Upper arms, Chin, back and male breast tissue (gynaecomastia).
The excess fat thus deposited can be removed through Liposuction.
Over weighted persons can opt for Liposuction to give a good shape
to their body. But Liposuction is not an alternative to weight loss.
Diet and exercises are very important to
lose extra weight.
