According to principles of ayurveda, skin harbors pitta dosha. Vitiation of pitta dosha causes skin problems like acne, pimple, rashes etc. Oats pacify pitta. It soothes skin and reduces irritation. This can be best utilized for home made beauty preparations. Oat is grainy and hence can be used in scrubs. Homemade scrubs of oat flakes remove dead skin, dirt and oil from skin. Oat is very gentle on skin. Homemade oat scrubs are better than chemical scrubs. Oat makes skin soft, shiny and supple. It hydrates skin and guards it. Before scrubbing wash face with luke warm water. This opens up pores and allows a thorough cleaning.
Oatmeal rosewater scrub (for normal skin):
Take two spoons of oat meal. Add 3 spoons of rose water and leave it for 5 minutes to get softened. Gently rub this mix on your face in circular motion. Do it for two minutes. Avoid rubbing around eyes. Wash it off with warm water and then splash cold water to close opened pores. Apply moisturizer immediately if skin feels dry.
Oatmeal scrub for oily skin-
Mix 2 tea spoons of oat meal with 3 spoons of rose water. Allow it to soften for five minutes. When it softens, mix 1 tea spoon of honey. Gently rub this on face in circular motion for two minutes. Wash face as mentioned above. This is the best ayurveda remedy for oily skin
Oatmeal cucumber scrub
Mix two tea spoons of oat meal with 4 tea spoons of grated cucumber. Allow the oatmeal to soften. Scrub the face with this mix for two minutes.
Oatmeal scrub for dry skin
Mix two tea spoons of oatmeal with 4 tea spoons of milk. Allow the oatmeal to soften. Add few drops of olive oil to this and gently rub this on face. Wash it off with warm water. Apply moisturizer immediately. This ayurveda remedy removes dead cells from dry skin and makes it soft and glowing
