Impotent men were handed an unlikely lifeline yesterday after research found a single bite from an exotic spider can cause four-hour
erections. Toxins from the Brazilian wandering spider gave
impotent rats a new lease of life and it is hoped the same process can be harnessed to help treat humans.
Dr Kenia Nunes, a physiologist at the Medical College of Georgia, said it could eventually help broaden treatment options for those suffering from
sexual dysfunction.She said: “We know that some patients don’t respond to the conventional therapy.“This could be an optional treatment for them.” But the bite comes with a catch. The long
erections they cause can be very painful and in some cases,
