According to texts of
ayurveda there are 8 types of
unhealthy semen. They are
Phenila tanu rukshamcha vivarnam poothi picchilam
anyadhatupasamsrushtamavasaadi tathashtakam ||1.
Phenila - (
Semen (
shukra) which is frothy)
2.
Tanu - (thin semen )
3.
Ruksha (Semen which has less stickiness)
4.
Vivarna - (semen which is discoloured)
5.
Puti - (
Semen with offensive odour)
6.
Picchila - (
Semen which is slimy)
7.
Anya dhatu samsrushta - (
semen mixed with other
dhatus like rakta)
8.
Avasaadi - (
Semen which has high density and sinks to bottom when dropped in a cup of
water)
The phenila, tanu and ruksha type of
unhealthy semenare caused by vitiation of
vata dosha.
Vivarna and puti are caused by pitta vitiation.
Picchila and avasaadi result due to vitiation of kapha.
Usually
Rakta dhatu (blood) gets mixed with semen in anyadhatusamsrushta
