Aphrodisiac foods in ayurveda
Texts of ayurveda contain a special chapter known as “Vajikarana Adhyaya”. This chapter deals with the treatment methods , herbal recipes and herbal preparations which are beneficial in improving potency of men. These preparations which are also known as “Vajikarana ahara” or aphrodisiac foods increase sexual energy and stamina by leaps and bounds.
Texts of ayurveda have recommended many simple ayurvedic food recipes for men to increase their fertility. These have been recommended to men who suffer from erectile dysfunction, low libido and premature ejaculation. The aphrodisiac herbs in these preparations help to increase sperm count and sperm motility and enhance quality and quantity of semen or shukra dhatu.
These recipes include vajikarana herbs which are highly eulogised for their sexual energy boosting properties.
#1 Rativriddhikara Modaka – A Superior ayurvedic aphrodisiac food for men
The ayurvedic texts “Yogaratnakara” recommends one such herbal recipe which is superior to all other recipes. It is superior because it contains best aphrodisiac herbs as its ingredients. This recipe is known as “Rativriddhikara Modaka”. The meaning of word “Rativriddhikara” is – the preparation which increases libido.
The method of preparation goes as follows
- Shweta Musli (safed Musli) -33 gms
- Kapikacchu – 33 gms
- Ashwagandha – 33 gms
- Shatavari – 33 gms
- Vidari Kanda – 33 gms
- Gokshura – 33 gms
- Makhana – 50 gms
- ghee – 250 gms
- Milk – 2 liters
- sugar – 500 gm
- Dry fruits – (optional)
- Cardamom – (optional)
All the above mentioned herbs except makhana have to be powdered and taken in equal proportion (Whats App Dr.Savitha Suri +916360108663 to get this Vajikarana Powder Mix). Take Makhana and fry it in a tea spoon of ghee till it becomes crisp. Powder it and keep it aside. Mix milk which weighs eight times the total weight of herbs. Add ghee which weighs equal to herb mixture. Take sugar which weighs twice the weight of herbs and add it the above mixture. Heat the whole mix of herbs, milk, ghee and sugar in a thick bottomed vessel. Remove it from flame when mixture thickens and starts leaving the surface of vessel. Dry fruits like raisins, cashews, almonds and pistachios can be added at this stage. Prepare round ball like modakas. These have to be administered after determining the strength of agni (body fire or metabolism) in a patient.
# 2 Ayurveda Rasala Yoga to increase libido
The preparations called “Rasala yoga “has been illustrated in ayurvedic text “Yogaratnakara”. It has been said that king of Mathura had prepared this recipe to keep his sexual energy and stamina at optimum level. It has been said that this recipe calms mind and cools body.
The recipe goes as follows
- Curd – 2 cups – The curd must be sweet and little sour.
- Sugar – 1 cup
- Honey – ¼ cup
- Ghee – ¼ cup
- Other ingredients – Dry ginger powder, black pepper powder and clove powder – 1 pinch each.
All these must be mixed well and transferred into clean earthen pot which is fumigated with sandal and rose wood fumes.
The king of Mathura used to consume this preparation as a natural ayurvedic remedy for erectile dysfunction. The ingredients in this recipe are said to increase libido naturally. This was used as an important preparation in Vajikarana therapy.
#3 Broken Wheat Pudding-an ayurvedic vajikarana food preparation at home
Broken wheat: 1 cup
Milk: 3 cups (pasturised or boiled)
Jaggery (traditional unrefined cane sugar)– 2 cups (or according to taste)
Ghee: ½ cup
Water: 3 cups
Cashews: ¼ cup
Raisins (draksha or dry grapes): ¼ cup
Almonds: ¼ cup
Cardamom: (powdered) – ½ tea spoon
Heat a frying pan on stove. Put 2 tea spoons of ghee into it. Add broken wheat and fry till it turns golden brown. Take out the frying pan. Place a small cooker on stove pour 3 cups of water to it. Add fried broken wheat to it and pressure cook it. When it is done add jaggery to it and boil well. Fry cashews, raisins, almonds in remaining ghee and pour it to wheat and jaggery mixture. Allow this mix to warm down little. Add pre boiled milk and cardamom to it and stir well.
Caution: Do not add milk when pudding is boiling as milk gets curdled.
Lactating mothers, body builders and men who suffer from erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, low sperm count and motility can consume this pudding.
#4 Vajikarana Payasa -an ayurvedic aphrodisiac for men
Wheat flour – 1 measure
Pure ghee – ¼ measure
Milk – 8 measures
Sugar or sugar candy (misri) – quantity required
Ashwagandha powder – ¼ measure
Water – 2 measures
Honey – ¼ measure
Cardamom – ¼ spoon
Boil ashwagandha powder with water and milk till it reduces to 4 measures. Strain the milk to remove roughage of ashwagandha. Fry wheat flour in ghee for few minutes. Add boiling ashwagandha milk and sugar to this . Allow it to cool. Add honey and cardamom to cooled mixture. Consume this once in a week.
According to ayurveda acharyas consuming this preparation helps to increase quality and quantity of semen. It is an ayurvedic aphrodisiac food for men which increases sperm count and sperm motility. Texts of ayurveda recommend this preparations to prevent shukra dhatu kshaya ( reduction in sperm count and sperm motility ).This preparation also helps to overcome erectile dysfunction, low libido and premature ejaculation
Caution: Persons suffering from diabetes can use this preparation without adding sugar candy and honey
